Smash Up Badminton at White Oak Leisure Centre

Smash Up Badminton is the new sports craze currently shaking up badminton classes around the UK in schools and leisure centres. Smash Up sessions, which have been held at White Oak Leisure Centre in Swanley this summer, involve big hitting badminton challenges which can be played against friends to a pumping music soundtrack that keeps the energy and enthusiasm at its highest peak. Smash Up puts a brand new spin on an old game.

Smash Up involves many different energetic, competitive games incorporating badminton such as ‘Badders’ which takes on the normal badminton rules, but the players are penalised each time the shuttlecock goes out of play. Players are handicapped each time they are penalised by having to use only one arm, hop on one leg, or kneel or sit down. Other games include ‘Throwminton’ where players must throw the shuttlecock with all their might and avoid it being caught by the opposing team. There is also ‘Power Play’ which is one of the most enthusiastic games where equal teams must run for the multiple shuttlecocks lined in the centre of the court and then throw their shuttlecocks over the net. The aim of the game is to have the least number of shuttlecocks left and shuttles positioned on the placed ‘Danger Zones’ count as 2 shuttles.

Each week, the games and musical playlists are different, therefore providing a fun and variable activity for all players. With each fast pace game involving tactical play and fun, children are able to gain experience and confidence in working with a team.  If you’re looking for fun, energy, music, friends and teamwork whilst playing a brilliant sport, then a Smash Up session is for you!
