During the week of 29th June, all at Sencio Community Leisure were fundraising and raising awareness for the fantastic charity that is Demelza Hospice Care for Children.
Demelza cares for almost 800 life-limited children and their families across East Sussex, Kent and South London providing:
Hospice at home care, hospice care, planned short breaks, emergency respite, therapies, symptom Control, end of life care and bereavement support.
These services are currently provided through Demelza Kent, a 10 bedded hospice in Sittingbourne Kent, Demelza South East London, a six bedded unit in Eltham and Demelza Community, a hospice at home service operating in East Sussex, West Kent and South London.
Demelza rely almost entirely on fundraising to provide all of their services to children and families which is why it is so important for fundraising events to happen.
Across our centres, activities were going on to fundraise for the charity. This included Zumba and Insanity classes and a Teddy Bear’s Picnic at White Oak Leisure Centre, all of which were a true success and we thank all that participated.
As well as the activities, all of us here at Sencio Community Leisure encouraged staff to wear red and white clothing to work and customers to add red and white to their gym kit, swimming costume or exercise class outfit to raise awareness for the charity.
With help from all staff and customers here at Sencio Community Leisure, we were able to raise an impressive £681.26 – so a MASSIVE thank you to all that were able to give what they could, your help is so very much appreciated.
A very special thank you to Sevenoaks’ own Katie Lord who oversaw much of the fundraising activity at Sevenoaks Leisure Centre and spent the majority of the week dressed as the Demelza Clown – what a star!
