Archery Open Day at Lullingstone Park Golf Course

Last October half-term holiday as part of our NR-Gize programme for children, a new Archery event was held in order to get more people into the brilliant sport that is Archery.

Historically, Archery has been used for hunting and combat, while in modern times its main use is that of a recreational activity. A person who participates in archery is typically known as an "archer" or "bowman", and one who is fond of or an expert at archery can be referred to as a "toxophilite".

For the first time, held at our brilliant Lullingstone Park Golf Course by the fantastic instructors Danny Gray and Mark Stewart-Paver, attendees of all ages were able to take aim and try out the sport in an outdoor environment.

With three different target distances for attendees to try their shots at, the two hour sessions flew by. The brilliant instructors, Danny and Mark were on hand throughout to guide each person through how to best take aim and hit the target. Their excellent teaching and advice made for a fantastic session for all of whom attended.

At White Oak Leisure Centre, where Mark and Danny run their courses, Archery is a popular sport for children and adults alike. For the last two years, Mark and Danny have been running the 6 week courses on offer for people aged 8+. Mark and Danny give concise instructions and teaching on the sport allowing all members to have an in-depth knowledge and skill of Archery.

This fun and diverse club is great for adults and children and encourages concentration, strength and confidence. Mark and Danny are excellent teachers and organisers of the club and create strong relationships with each of their pupils. Every new member is encouraged to jump straight in and made to feel a part of a team. The class runs every Thursday, 16:30 – 17:30 for ages 8 - 17 and 18:00 - 19:00 for aged 18+.

The cost for each 6 week course is as follows;

JUNIOR:
Member: £30.90
Non-Member: £37.20

ADULT:

Non-Member: £42.90

The next 6 week course starts on the 25th of February. Courses must be booked in advance to guarantee your space.
