The Charlton Challenge is Charlton Athletic Community Trust’s (CACT’s) own award-winning scheme for 3-14 year old boys and girls, delivered by our qualified coaches. Charlton Challenge is a structured and progressive scheme aimed at developing children’s core movement and football skills. It is designed to create maximum enjoyment and involvement, while also helping young footballers to realise their full potential.

All Charlton Challenge sessions are delivered over 10 to 12 weeks three times a year at your local leisure centre and are split into four challenges.

Toddler Soccer (aged 3 & 4):
Delivered to support boys’ and girls’ first experience in sport. All games delivered are fun and engaging while looking to support core movement skills. At the end of each session, each player will be rewarded with celebratory stickers:

FUNdamental Challenge (aged 5 to 7):
First step into developing core football skills. The Fundamental Challenge focuses on: Fundamental Skills, Ball Mastery, Social Development and Game Understanding.

Technical Challenge (aged 8-10):
Provides more for players who are keen on developing as little footballers. The Technical Challenge will be a fun environment to develop the core football techniques of: Dribbling and Control, Passing, Shooting and Finishing Attacking and Defending.

Match Play Challenge (aged 11 to 14):
Weekly opportunities for players to play the beautiful game whether you play in a team or are just looking to play in a fun environment. Coaches will deliver different “match related” sessions, World Cup-style tournaments, 4v4 tournaments, futsal or 1v1 and 2v2 challenges, all to offer players a different or new environment to develop and enjoy their football.

At the end of the course, players across all four challenges will receive a CAFC gift and a certificate. Fundamental and Technical Challenge participants will also be graded and will each receive a wristband to determine which level of the challenge they are to help support development and growth.
